Behind the Scenes of RD1's Menswear Photoshoot

We recently braved the typical British winter weather to shoot our latest menswear campaign, and the results have been nothing short of brilliant! Featuring two RD1 legends and the picturesque backdrop of Hastings, this shoot was all about showcasing timeless winter styles for men.

Our focus this year was heritage brands and versatile pieces you'll treasure for years. We also looked at thermal wear perfect for frosty mornings and recycled cotton fisherman jumpers that blend warmth with eco-conscious fashion. 

Collaborating with some fantastic local talent truly elevated the shoot. Massive thanks to Lee London Photography for capturing the essence of both the products and the coastal charm. We also played music in our campaign video provided by a local Hastings band, murderers are optimists.

We also had an incredible lineup of brands to work with including :
Only & Sons, Sergio Tacchini, Ellesse, Fila, Napapijri and Ska and Soul, each bringing their unique take on modern, durable style.

The locations, from the iconic Hastings Seafront to the cosy pub vibes of Jenny Lind Inn, added a layer of authenticity and local charm to the campaign.

Fisherman Jumpers

We headed down to Hastings’ fishing huts to provide the perfect moody atmosphere to showcase one of our favourite looks for the season: fisherman jumpers paired with timeless flat caps. These warm knits from our Danish brand, Only & Sons, are not just stylish but sustainable, too!

Crafted from recycled cotton, these jumpers are designed to keep you warm while treading lightly on the planet. Priced at just £45, they’re available in two versatile colours, Olive and Dark Navy, and your choice of a roll neck or crew neck style.

Icon Collection - Knebworth Knits

Another standout from our shoot is a look that brings a touch of retro cool to the winter wardrobe: two iconic knits from the Ska & Soul Icons Collection, inspired by the legendary style of Britpop icon Noel Gallagher.

Priced at £69.99, these knits embody the effortless flair of the ‘90s Britpop era. Italian Heritage

One of the most special looks from our campaign comes from our heritage Italian range, featuring pieces that are built to last both in quality and style. These are more than just clothes— over the years, I’ve had countless people pop by the shop proudly showing off their Fila track top and Sergio Tacchini track top collections from back in the day, and it’s incredible to see how these brands stand the test of time..

In the shoots we had a cheeky beer and showcased the Fila Settanta Baseball Track Jacket in Light Blue/Cream/Fila Navy and Sergio Tacchini Court Velour Track Top in Black.

Jackets

Next up, we turned up the edge with a look that’s all about rugged style and functionality—our jacket lineup. These standout pieces were shot on a beach building site, with the gritty backdrop bringing a “hard-as-nails” vibe to the collection.

The lineup featured: Terrace Cult Resta Camo Jacket in Khaki Green and Ellesse Cassiano FZ Jacket in Black paired with Napapijri Semiury Beanie.

This winter campaign was a big step for us as we worked hard to showcase not only our amazing brands and products but also the heart and soul behind what we do. From fisherman jumpers and classic Britpop-inspired knits to timeless Italian sportswear and rugged jackets, this season’s collection is all about pieces you’ll treasure for years to come.
