Back in 1955, an American sportswear legend was born in the most unexpected way. A delayed flight, a few drinks, and a stuffed penguin named Pete — that’s all it took for Abbot Pederson to unknowingly create something iconic. After knocking the penguin’s head off mid-flight, a stewardess wrapped a tie around it and joked, “He’d look good on a shirt.” That throwaway comment sparked the beginning of Original Penguin.
